who are we.

We started stain. to reflect identity, to share intimacy, celebrate imperfection and appreciate impermanence.

stain. is a rejection of hyper-curation and overthinking. Of polishing every decision. Of worrying about consequences before we even begin.

stain. is for the impulsive. For those who move on instinct and act on a whim.
For tribals on necks,
camels on toes,
and moustaches on fingers.

what happened to spontaneity?

thinking twice is so boring.

how it’s made.

stain. is plant-based, from the Genipa americana. the fruit is dried, ground into a powder, and mixed into a gel.

when applied to skin, the gel  stains blue-black as it oxidizes. the stain fades as the skin naturally sheds.

keratin-dense areas, like hands, stain darkest but fade faster. the longer the gel is left on, the deeper and darker the result.

this is why results will always vary.

where it's grown.

grown wild across the southern rainforests of Colombia and Venezuela. the staining qualities of the fruit’s juice have been used for centuries by local communities for a variety of reasons. there’s no other fruit quite like it.

unlike more valuable crops, the tree isn’t planted and harvests are sporadic. our supply chain ensures local farmers are paid a fair wage for their work.
